Mo'o  (cousin to Dragon)

Mo'o were mythical Hawaiian reptiles that mostly resembled large lizards. My Mo'o design has the same head as my dragons but a different body. The length and narrowness of their bodies makes them fun to shape and install. Hidden wires allow them to hold their shape. They are colorful and whimsical accents to almost any space.

Mo'o require a LOT of paper dyed on both sides. They are folded from a single rectangle that is much longer (10 times) than it is wide. There are a lot of hidden wires to hold shape to their eyes, ears, nose, tongue, horns, legs, and spine.

In 2023, I redesigned mo'o and dragon heads with added whiskers and a more prominent eyebrow ridge. This gave rise to the "Guardians."
